Jake Fishman Makes Major League Debut
Former Rox standout and local product shines with Marlins
Brockton, MA – In 2015, Jake Fishman was a core member of the Brockton Rox bullpen, appearing in ten games while posting a 1.95 ERA and recording forty-seven strikeouts in thirty-seven innings. Fishman began his college baseball career with the Union College Dutchmen in New York, where he played one season before being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 30th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. Fishman would bounce around between multiple minor league organizations after being drafted but would eventually find his dream destination with the Miami Marlins organization.
On Sunday afternoon, Fishman made his Major League Baseball debut with the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park. Fishman entered the game in relief in the third inning to begin his Major League Baseball career with the Marlins, facing off against the New York Mets. Fishman remained in the game for 3 1/3 innings while allowing only one run to the star-powered Mets lineup.
The Sharon High School alumni has some interesting hobbies outside of baseball, which include running his own technology-based YouTube channel and developing his own software program. Scott Kornberg released an article stating that “there is truly nobody in baseball like the IT Guy” in reference to Fishman’s interests and talents on and off the field.
The Brockton Rox organization and local community have demonstrated an unbelievable amount of support for Fishman as he begins his Major League Baseball career and there is a lot of excitement around the future of this young local talent.
