 | Manny hits five home runs as the Rox win in a Home Run Derby in New Britain |

New Britain, CT – On a rainy night in New Britain, the Rox were looking to continue the momentum created in a game one win over the Worcester Bravehearts.
Brockton’s bats carried them to a win last night, but things started a little slower in tonight’s ball game. The first score came in the third as a swinging bunt single by Chris Markovich (Boston College) brought home Dennis Gamester (Sacred Heart). Jaden Sheffield (Georgetown) provided another with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Peter Messervy (Harvard).
Every time the Rox took the lead, the Bees came buzzing back, as they equalized in the third inning on a Craig Corliss (UMass Boston) two-run double.
The Rox were able to push one across with an Eric Volpi (St. Thomas Aquinas) double and a Messervy single in the fourth. They were able to hold on to this lead until the seventh when Matthew DeRosa (Quinnipiac) singled home a run.
The game stayed tied until the tenth inning, where both teams scored on gifted runs. The game went on to the Home Run Derby after the inning, where Manny Ramirez Jr. (Tallahassee C.C.) took control blasting five homers to beat Matt Goehrig (Post) in two rounds.\
On the hill, Tristen Spalter (Babson) pitched well, allowing only two runs in five innings. Ben Spencer (Clark) was solid but blew a save allowing one run in the seventh. Will Jones (Northeastern) was wild, walking five in two innings, but kept the Rox at least tied with four strikeouts, leading us to a home run derby.
The Rox return home on Saturday May 28th, for a matchup with the Norwich Sea Unicorns at Campanelli Stadium.
