 | Brockton Breaks Losing Streak with Shutout Win |
|
Norwich, CT – The Brockton Rox are finally back in the win column. The team got to win number seven, snapping their eight-game losing streak with a win over the Norwich Sea Unicorns by a final score of 4-0.
What made this win even more impressive was the fact that they kept Norwich scoreless through all nine innings, despite multiple situations with bases jammed. John Archer (St. Thomas Aquinas) threw a gem, going seven full innings with zero earned runs. Archer only allowed five hits but threw an impressive nine strikeouts. Brian Foley (UMass Lowell) finished the game for the Rox, striking out two after working out of a bases-loaded jam.
The Rox scored all four runs in a second-inning rally, making it the only frame out of 18 to have scoring produced. Peter Messervy (Harvard) started the rally with a triple, finishing 2-4 on the night with three RBI’s. Jake Fitzgibbons (UMass Lowell) also had an RBI on the night, going 1-2 with a walk. Chenar Brown (Jackson State) continued his hitting streak, going 2-4 on the night with a run. Jack Doyle (Northeastern) and Dustin Allen (San Diego) each recorded a hit, making it seven total hits for the Rox.
Brockton will be back in action Saturday night against the Pittsfield Suns. First pitch at Wahconah Park will take place at 6:05PM. Tune in to all the action on the Futures League Network or follow our live tweets on Twitter @RoxBaseball.
