A rough start for Bentz combined with a slow start offensively stunts the Rox
Worcster, MA – The Rox continued their run of scoring most of their runs in one inning on Sunday, but it was just too little, too late as the Bravehearts prevailed 7-6 at Fitton Field.
It was an uncharacteristically rough start for Sebastian Bentz (Triton) on the mound as he was unable to pitch a clean inning before being forced out of the game in the sixth inning. He finished with 5.2 innings pitched, allowing six runs, all earned, seven hits, and three walks, while striking out five.
It was a slow start for the Rox bats as they were unable to capitalize with multiple runners on base in the first two innings. Chenar Brown (Jackson State) opened the Rox scoring with a solo shot in the third inning. The Rox bats finally woke up in the eighth as Eric Volpi (St. Thomas Aquinas) opened the inning with another solo shot. The Rox followed with three more runs in the inning.
Kade Foulke (Galveston) was a bright spot in an inning of relief, keeping the Rox within striking distance. The Rox got the tying run to third base in the ninth but were unable to take advantage.
The Rox will be back home with a double-header against the New Britain Bees on Tuesday. First pitch for Game One is at 3:00PM EST. Tickets are available at tickets.brocktonrox.com
