Rox pitching struggles to start the road trip
Brockton, MA – The Brockton Rox played against the New Britain Bees for the third time in two days. Each team brought home a victory on Tuesday but tonight’s matchup went in favor of the Bees with a final score of 11-5.
Brockton scored the first run of the game after a home run from Manny Ramirez Jr. (Tallahassee C.C.) in the top of the second inning. New Britain would return the favor and record four runs of their own in the tail end of the inning. The Rox would score their second run of the game in the top of the third inning after Bronson Balholm (Arizona State) scored on a sacrifice groundout.
The scoreboard would remain empty for the next few innings until New Britain had a game changing inning in the sixth, scoring six of their eleven total runs. This would be the final inning on the mound for the Rox starting pitcher, Marshall Whitmer (Georgetown), who remained in the game for five innings while allowing eight hits and five runs.
Brockton battled back in the seventh inning adding three runs of their own but that would not be enough to regain the lead that they held early in the game..
Brockton continues its five game road trip on Thursday in Norwich to compete against the Sea Unicorns.
