Brockton, MA – The Brockton Rox lose their second game of this road trip to the Sea Unicorns following a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth inning on Thursday evening in Norwich with a final score of 7-6.
Brockton started the game off strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. Jaden Sheffield (Georgetown) was the first to cross home plate for the Rox following a sacrifice fly out from D’Angelo Ortiz. The second of Brockton’s two runs in the first inning came after Chenar Brown (Jackson State) advanced home as a result of several walked batters.
The Sea Unicorns scored their first run of the game in the second inning via a leadoff homerun and would score later in the inning from a sacrifice fly out to even the score. Brockton would take back the lead in the fourth inning after a wild pitch allowed Cody Kashimoto (Saint Mary’s) to score from third. This lead would not last very long with Norwich adding another run to their total in the bottom half of the fourth inning tying the game once again.
Ortiz would single, allowing Peter Messervy (Harvard) to score and give Brockton the lead in the fifth inning. The Rox would maintain the lead until the sixth inning where Norwich would score to tie the game for a third time.
The score would remain tied until the bottom of the eighth inning after Norwich would take their first lead of the night. Brockton would regain control of the lead in the top of the ninth inning following a two-run homerun from Manny Ramirez Jr. (Tallahassee C.C.), his second in two games, to give Brockton a 6-5 lead.
